What’s an Enduro? 

An enduro is a multiple-stage race where you climb to the top and are timed on the descents. There are usually 4-6 stages, Sometimes different courses are offered such as a “short course”. In enduro the climb is not timed, you can pace yourself and take breaks. There will sometimes be “check-in” points you need to make it to by certain times and these will always be communicated. 

What’s the difference between the long course and the short course? 

When you register you will be asked to choose between two course options, long course or short course. On the long course, you can expect around 20-22 km of pedalling with 1000-1200m of climbing. The short course will be approximately half the length and climbing as the long course. The long course will keep the same categories we’ve had in the past. (U15, U15, U19,  Adult Open 19-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50+). The short course will have a youth category and an Adult.  

How does the seeding and timing work?

At the start of the race, we'll release riders in self-seeded waves. If you're fast, start early. If you're looking for a more chill day, start later. At the start of each timed section, we will release one rider at a time in approximately 30-second intervals. If you're riding with friends and know your speed order, feel free to shuffle yourselves around so everyone has a good ride down.

Will I be passed, how do I pass?

This is a part of enduro, you might not be passed, you might be passed and you might pass someone. No need to be freaked out. The best way to pass, or be passed is by being calm and respectful and like everything communication is key! Typically a racer catching up to another will loudly make it known the the rider ahead they are approaching them words like “racer” or “behind you” are usually used. The racer being approached will pull over when safe to do so, and the racer behind will pass.  Thanks and encouragement  will quickly be exchanged “Thank you!” “CRUSHING IT GURLL” and the race will carry on. 

Can I walk my bike?

Of course! While this is a race, it’s 100% okay to hop off and walk if needed. If there are features or sections of trail you are unsure of do not let this deter you from entering. All large features will be marked and will have alt routes flagged. If you know you’re going to walk a section, you can let the timers know and they’ll give you some extra time between letting racers drop. 

What Level of experience do I need to race the Spud Crusher?

The Spud Crusher is a fun, inclusive atmosphere, where women can come to learn, challenge themselves, or just relax and ride their bikes. You don’t need to be a pro-level biker and we see all levels of riders come out to have a fun day. 

You can expect around 20-22 km of pedalling with 1000-1200m of climbing. You should be comfortable riding Blue and Black rated trails, However, if you encounter a feature you are not comfortable with you can always hop off your bike. Trails like “Radio Tower '', “No err ", and "Hawaii " are examples of trails in previous year’s courses. 

New this year is a short course, which will be a shorter version of the full course. Made to dip your toe into the enduro world, or for those who would prefer a shorter ride.

Are refunds available?

A refund will be available, minus a $20 processing fee, up until Saturday, April 20, 2024. After this date, there are no refunds. PORCA membership is non-refundable. **Subject to special terms – event cancellation or season-ending injuries**

Can I transfer my Registration?

Entry is non-transferable you will be asked for ID when picking up your race pack
