Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association

The Pemberton Off Road Cycling Association was founded in 2016. Through community involvement and trails stewardship, PORCA strives to maintain and enhance Pemberton's world class riding experience for residents and visitors.

Our Vision

A connected community through mountain biking.

Our Mission

To serve Pemberton’s mountain biking community through advocacy, trail stewardship, partnerships, programs, and events.

Guiding Principles

Inclusive. Fun. Community.

How It All Started

In 2016, a passionate group of local mountain bikers came together to bring events back to Pemberton as a way to fundraise for the maintenance, preservation and growth of mountain bike trails. We kicked things off with a Founders Stemcap fundraiser (thanks to North Shore Billet), an Icebreaker Toonie and a trails day before our first PORCA Pemberton Enduro.

We ended 2016 with 289 members, since then we have grown to nearly 900. In 2019, we hired a part-time Executive Director to support our volunteer Board of Directors and have seasonal staff supporting our events and programs. We are still a small but mighty team working together to build the best mountain bike community in British Columbia.

What’s the plan?

We have one! But seriously, PORCA has a strategic plan that was updated in 2023 with member and stakeholder input. We have three strategic areas: our organization, trails stewardship and advocacy and building community. All though we would like to get everything done as soon as possible, realistically we can’t, so we use this plan to identify our goals, objectives and priorities for each year. We are so grateful to our dedicted volunteer Board of Directors guiding PORCA and whom are passionate about mountain biking in Pemberton.

Governance

The PORCA Board of Directors is composed of a dedicated group of Volunteers that uphold PORCA’s mission, vision and guiding principles of an inclusive, fun and community focussed non-profit. These are the hero’s behind the scenes making PORCA happen.

If you are interested in applying for a seat on our Board of Directors, take a look at our Board of Directors Terms of Reference. Our Annual General Meeting is held mid-October. We put a call out for nominations for open positions usally end of August, early September.
